Our story

As the national authority on regional events, the Australian Centre for Regional Events is committed to helping event organisers deliver lasting social, economic and tourism benefits to their regions.

Our team have transformed more than 200 regional and rural communities into vibrant destinations through the power of events.

We have designed a dedicated framework to equip regional organisers with essential event management strategies and skills.

Through hands-on training, mentorship and advocacy, the team behind the Australian Centre for Regional Events believe in upskilling individuals in rural and regional Australia to create unforgettable experiences that stand the test of time.

Events breathe life into our regions

Well-run and economically viable events can drive regional economies and provide immeasurable social benefits for communities.

On the flip side, decades of experience have shown us the volunteers and local teams behind these events often lack the foundations and frameworks they need to work sustainably, leaving them exhausted and frustrated.

The Australian Centre for Regional Events addresses the pain points, red flags, and hurdles that threaten regional event success.

Our commitment is to foster positive change by giving event organisers those foundations and frameworks, making regional events more viable, acting as catalysts for growth and vibrancy in rural and regional communities across Australia.

Founders and renowned industry experts Linda Tillman and Cathy Treasure boast a collective experience of 50 years in global, national and regional event management.

Their experience has given them invaluable insights into the economic and social benefits of successful, sustainable events specific to regional Australia.

Their own deep ties to regional Australia - through upbringing and professional exposure to hundreds of rural and regional councils and events - give the team the skills and understanding to address the distinct needs and challenges faced by local councils and enthusiastic but under-supported event teams.

The Australian Centre for Regional Events collaborates with regional and rural councils, regional tourism bodies, event volunteers, festival directors and committees, professional industry groups and key community groups to advance the professionalism and quality of regional and rural events throughout Australia.

By responding to the unique needs of regional communities and establishing meaningful connections at every level, we proactively support the healthy future of regional communities through streamlined and efficient event planning.

Delivering a roadmap to success

Regional events serve as a cornerstone of economic growth, social cohesion, and community pride.

To stay relevant, events must be continually renewed, refreshed, and reviewed - and this is where the Australian Centre for Regional Events comes in.

Our area of expertise is building human capability through education and training initiatives, ensuring events remain dynamic and viable into the future.

To this end, the Australian Centre for Regional Events offer:

The elearning is supported by opportunities for connection through facilitated individual or group online sessions. We also provide face-to-face bootcamps and masterclasses for event teams.

  2. Event strategies and concept plan development. We develop and revitalise event concepts and strategies, creating a foundation from which events have every opportunity to flourish.

  3. Coaching for events teams and council event staff. We offer mentoring and coaching for key individuals to develop skills and enhance events.

  4. Stakeholder partnerships and Government advisory. We collaborate with government bodies and community stakeholders to link regional events with broader strategies including economic and social impact through research, trend insights, case studies, and advocate best practice.

  5. Connections and network. Our programs and membership offerings bring together those connected to the events industry throughout Australia, promoting continual best practice and the power of collaboration.

Our commitment is to connect communities, governments, and grassroots organisations to drive regional Australia towards a brighter, more event-ful tomorrow.
