Lately, the buzzword in the events world is measuring the social impact of events—how they influence attendees and communities. But what about the social benefits of working in events?
In event teams, you connect with people from all walks of life, with diverse talents, personalities, and backgrounds, all collaborating to create something magical.
I recently spent five incredible days attending the Parkes Elvis Festival, an event I loved working on for seven years before leaving in 2023 to start my own business.
Experiencing it as a spectator was a unique experience —watching Elvis fans revel in the entertainment, coming together to escape reality for a few days and simply have fun.
Yet, for me, the best part wasn’t the event itself but seeing the many beautiful people that I had worked with for many years— bands, production teams, volunteers, crew, former workmates, Elvis tribute artists, venue managers and suppliers. Some diehard fans even remembered me!
These connections reminded me that it’s not just the events I love but the incredible network of people who come together to make them extraordinary.
Event friendships are special. In high-pressure environments, you bond quickly and deeply. These connections forge lifelong friendships, built on shared challenges and countless behind-the-scenes moments.
