5 ways regional events can work together to achieve greater success

Though festivals and events have been one of the hardest hit industries by COVID-19, being the first to be banned and likely the last to be permitted again, high level support for event organisers has been negligible.

So let’s take the reins and help ourselves as we help each other!

Here are 5 ways regional events can work together to achieve greater success

1. Marketing

Events with similar themes across the country have an opportunity to undertake cooperative marketing by creating a trail or bundle of events - even if not in the same destination. After all, you are all talking to similar audiences with the same interests and expectations.

2. Volunteers

Create a centralised database for your region or cluster of Councils to share volunteers amongst your events, including community groups who use your event as a means to fundraise. Imagine a roving volunteer hub that supports events across multiple states (yes please!).

3. Sponsorship

Imagine events with the same attendee profiles in different regions working collectively to pitch to corporate sponsors for multiple event benefits. We can’t believe that this is not already happening! What a great proposition for a corporation to reach the same persona in different parts of the state or country!

4. Suppliers

Share suppliers to negotiate better deals. What if a cluster of events formed an alliance and negotiated with suppliers to gain the best deal for all of the events? The supplier also wins as they gain multiple event contracts.

5. One voice

Have one single voice to advocate for the events sector to ensure ongoing support, such as the Australian Regional Events Alliance (AREA).
